Ultralight Outfitters Main Website
A Message From Rob Anue, Our Founder and Lead Designer

My journey in ultralight backpacking started when I retired from an engineering career and devoted myself to my love of backpacking. At first, I designed my own gear to have something more convenient and lighter, and from there I ended up developing a system for ultralight backpacking. I made several sets of my gear and took friends out backpacking with me into beautiful places where I could introduce them to ultralight backpacking. It was a fun way to be with friends. What surprised me was that after our trips, every one of those people (except the kids) wanted to go out and buy the gear we used. So Ultralight Outfitters came into being.
Ultralight backpacking can be for everyone. I have had a wide variety of people join me for their first ultralight backpacking experience: children, experienced backpackers, first-time backpackers, and older folks who aren't as strong and limber as they used to be. They all did well, enjoyed it, and were comfortable. You can read their stories throughout this web site.
Ultralight backpacking is easy to like. Who wouldn't want to have less back and shoulder pain, be able to travel farther and faster, and feel more free and comfortable while walking in the natural beauty of the great outdoors?
Welcome to Ultralight Outfitters. Through this web site and our products, I hope to be able to provide you with the gear and skills you need to go ultralight backpacking... in a way that is really comfortable, safe, and enjoyable.
